What Is Honda Maintenance Minder System?

What Is The Honda Maintenance Minder System?

Wondering, “what is the Honda Maintenance Minder System?” The Honda Maintenance Minder System was designed by Honda to help vehicle owners have a better idea of when their scheduled maintenance is due. This helps customers keep up with routine maintenance, from Honda oil changes to tire rotations and more. Instead of providing recommended maintenance intervals, the Maintenance Minder system in the information display of your vehicle will show you when maintenance is due. Simply schedule a service appointment at our Honda dealership near Schenectady, and our service technicians will get your vehicle in for the maintenance it needs!

Honda Maintenance Minder FAQs

How Does The Honda Maintenance Minder Work?

Instead of a recommended maintenance schedule, the Honda Maintenance Minder can show you the engine oil life on the information display. Your engine oil life will be displayed as a percentage that starts at 100% with every oil change. When it drops to 15%, the Maintenance Minder Light will turn on and maintenance codes will be displayed to you.

How Do I Operate The Honda Maintenance Minder System?

You can press the Select/Reset knob on the information display to view oil use progression. Also, each time your vehicle is turned on it will display the percentage of remaining oil life. Go by these percentages for scheduling Honda service nearby:

  • 15% — Service due soon — Plan to visit Saratoga Honda for an oil change.
  • 5% — Service due now — Stop in for Honda service.
  • 0% — Service past due — Honda service is overdue.

Along With The Wrench Symbol And The Percentage Of Remaining Life, There Is Sometimes A Letter And/Or A Number Displayed. What Do They Mean?

All maintenance items will be displayed in code. Some of the common Honda Maintenance Minder codes include:

  • A: Replace just the engine oil
  • B: Replace engine oil, oil filter, inspect front and rear brakes, check parking brake, inspect other items specific to vehicle

Sub Codes:

  • 1: Rotate tires
  • 2: Replace air cleaner element, check the drive belt, replace dust and pollen filter
  • 3: Replace transmission fluid and transfer fluid
  • 4: Replace spark plugs, timing belt, inspect water pump and valve clearance
  • 5: Replace engine coolant
  • 6: Replace rear differential fluid

How Many Miles Can I Expect To Go Between Oil Changes When Using The Maintenance Minder System?

Maintenance intervals can vary based on your model year and driving habits, but it’s a good idea to get an oil change around 5,000 miles or so.

Typically, My Honda Maintenance Minder Light Comes On At 6,500 Miles, But I Am Only At 4,500 Miles And I Am Going On Vacation. I Want To Have My Service Completed Before I Go. What Should I Do?

Follow your Maintenance Minder recommendations and schedule Honda service at our Saratoga Springs Honda service center.

Should I Be Checking My Oil Level With The Honda Maintenance Minder System?

Yes. The Maintenance Minder does not sense oil level. Please reference your Honda owner's manual recommendations for Service Station Procedures.

I Need To Know What The Next Recommended Service On My Honda Will Be. Can A Honda Technician Tell Me This?

Absolutely. Your Honda technician or Advisor can use the Forced Activation mode to determine what your next recommended services are. The option to check this will only work if your oil life is between 100% and 16%. Once the vehicle has reached 15% your next recommended service will turn on automatically.
